The Visiting Scholars Program at CES – Center for European Studies – Harvard
Every year, the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies is pleased to host a number of Visiting Scholars from the US and abroad. The Center welcomes applications from post-doctoral social scientists and historians who are working on modern Europe.
The Harvard and CES communities provide an intellectually stimulating environment for scholars of modern Europe. Visitors take part in a weekly seminar that is an opportunity for them to present work in progress and receive feedback from colleagues in their field. In addition, the Center has a full program of talks, study group sessions and conferences in which visitors are encouraged to participate.
Scholars are admitted on a competitive basis for a period of at least three months and up to one year. Most will have their own source of funding such as sabbatical salary or grants since the Center does not generally provide funding for Visiting Scholars. A stipend of 5,000 euros will be given to the selected Sciences Po Visiting Scholar by Sciences Po Scientific Department.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Applicants must pursue an independent project on modern Europe or transatlantic relations in history or the social sciences.
• Applicants must possess a PhD at the time of application.
• Applicants outside of academia who are well established in their profession with a minimum of 7 years professional experience, such as journalists, are also encouraged to apply.

The Center for the Americas of the International Division at Sciences Po, a resource and welcome center for students, professors and researchers working on “the Americas”, informs reviews and guides professors and post-doctoral students applying to the CES/Harvard scholarships program. All questions and inquiries concerning Visiting Scholars should be addressed to the Elodie Luquet, International Affairs Manager, Center for the Americas, Sciences Po at elodie.luquet (at )sciences-po.fr
